About

The National Trauma Research Repository (NTRR) is a comprehensive web platform for managing research datasets to support data sharing among trauma investigators. It is designed to be a central, cloud-based repository for the clinical data resulting from both military funded and civilian research efforts.

The NTRR is built on the Biomedical Research Informatics Computation System (BRICS), alongside the Federal Interagency Traumatic Brain Injury Research Informatics System. The system allows researchers to share original data sets and request shared data sets for secondary analyses. Repository data cover the entire patient care trajectory, from injury prevention, point of injury, and en route care, to hospital care, rehabilitation and long-term outcomes. The goal is to align data elements between NTRR and FITBIR—to the extent that they can be aligned—so that investigators can query data across platforms.

The NTRR is curated by the Coalition for National Trauma Research (CNTR), sponsored by the Department of Defense, and built by the National Institutes of Health's Center for Information Technology and Sapient Government Services. Its purpose is to help advance trauma research by providing the infrastructure that enables investigators to access and use clinical research data that have not previously been available.

Funding

The construction of the NTRR is supported by the United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity under Contract HT9425-23-P-0014.
